January 2024 Release: "GREAT MONSTER PULGASARI," the Infamous 1985 North Korean Film

YAY! It’s the official announcement for all of the January 2024 release, and it’s 1985’s GREAT MONSTER PULGASARI! The history of this film is as crazy as the movie itself, and our release will have both! Here’s the lowdown:

PROCEEDS from this flick go to the charity organization LIBERTY IN N. KOREA (LiNK) to help the N. Korean people be free in their own country!

Product Details:

The only N. Korean-made kaiju (giant monster) film, PULGASARI was directed by the legendary South Korean director SHIN SANG-OK. As a big fan of Shin, dictator K. JONG-IL and his then-ruling father had the director and his ex-wife kidnapped for the purpose of making new films for N. Korea. Effects were provided by members of the famed Japanese film studio TOHO (the studio responsible for GODZILLA, apparently under the pretense that the film was being produced for China.

Synopsis:

In feudal Korea, the people are being crushed by the forces of the evil king. Their revolt is aided by the legendary kaiju Pulgasari, who rises from the ashes of a murder to free the people and destroy the evil monarch. The longer the creature sticks around, however, the question becomes, "Is it a savior, or a destroyer?"
